Testimonials

Dwight did a fantastic job on our kitchen, laundry room, and family room remodel! In the past, my husband and I have remodeled 2 kitchens, and several bathrooms. This is the first project that we used Dwight for, and we could not have been happier with his work. Dwight is a true professional. He puts 100% of his effort in ensuring the project is done right. He gives great attention to detail, he is punctuality and dependable, trustworthy, and truly takes pride in his work and finished project. He was an excellent communicator for the duration of the project. He was a delight to work with and made a lengthy project as comfortable as possible. We recommend Dwight without hesitation. We are already looking forward to using Dwight for other remodeling projects in our home. We are thrilled with our new kitchen and the other rooms, and it was well worth the wait!

KD and I would like to thank you for your exper8se and professionalism as our kitchen remodeling contractor. Ours was not an easy project given detailed carpentry requirements and seemingly endless problems with the cabinet company, but you stuck with us to ensure that we received the “perfect” kitchen that we envisioned.

As I’ve told you, it is my pleasure to recommend your services to your potential clients. You are a craftsman with an attention to detail that is not easy to find, and you are a true gentleman who is polite and easy to work with. You do what you say you will do on a schedule that you commit to, and you willingly collaborate with your clients. These are qualities that are difficult to find in your profession. Many, many thanks for a job well done!

I am very pleased to write this letter of recommendation for Dwight Grimsley. I have worked with many contractors over the years and he stands out among them. I first met Dwight in 2001. My favorite interior designer, Pam Fischer, referred him to me and I have used Dwight on every home improvement project since.

The range of Dwight’s abilities is wide; he has done simple work like placing shelves in my storage room and installing recessed lighting. However, his expertise lies in precision woodworking.   Dwight is a perfectionist and any work he does will be done correctly even if it means taking 5 steps back to go 2 steps forward. The quality of his work is second to none. He completes every project in a professional and timely manner.

In addition to providing exceptional work, Dwight is a very personable man. He is friendly, honest, fun to work with and has integrity. I have given him a key to my house for weeks at a time to come and go as the project progressed. When he leaves, the job site is tidier than when he arrived! He was also so kind to ask about my dog, Valentino. He made an effort to make friends with Valentino and to learn how he could best accommodate him while working in our home.

In closing, I would like to say that not only do I highly recommend Dwight for any project; I am also blessed to consider him my friend.   It is always a pleasure to work with Dwight!

My husband and I hired Dwight of Westwood Carpentry to complete our kitchen renovation beginning December 2013. Dwight was an absolute pleasure to work with throughout the entire process! He was very communicative throughout the project as things changed (as they must always change in renovations) and kept us up to date on his progress, while constantly checking in with us to make sure we were comfortable with how the project was progressing.

Dwight was very respectful of our space and our scheduling needs. He even accommodated some ‘quiet time’ so our 3 year old could get in his much needed nap!

I appreciated that he never made any major decisions without first consulting us, but at the same time was fast and efficient in his work. Dwight’s attention to detail is very good and the care he puts into his craft is evident in the end product. We absolutely love our new kitchen! We highly recommend him!

“All my clients enjoy having Dwight in their homes and I feel comfortable when he is on the job. I’ve appreciated his exemplary work ethic for more than 25 years. His approach to a task is methodical so errors just don’t happen!”

“I am a professional single woman living in an old home in desperate need of repair. All attempts made at seeking assistance have been met with sloppy and incomplete work or no shows. Then I was referred to Dwight Grimsley who proved to be a breath of fresh air. He is completely reliable and takes pride in his work. He has been very patient and respectful regarding my requests and ideas. He has been thoughtful and helpful in ways that have shown me he has my best interest at heart. Working with Dwight in my home has been a productive and pleasant experience. I would definitely give him my stamp of approval.”

– Robyn W., Owner of Wardrobe Works

Dwight Grimsley was the carpenter/contractor for the remodelling of our kitchen. The built-in cabinets (alot of them) and the useless soffit had to go. The demolition was noisey and messy. First Dwight and his assistant hung plastic to contain the dust. The project was complicated because of the large size and shape of the kitchen and dining area. Dwight arrived every morning at 7:00 am, a time we both agreed with. He was efficient, courteous, friendly, and had great integrity. Joe and I love our new kitchen. The remodel has increased the value of our house by thousands of dollars. We were very impressed with the quality of Dwight’s craftmanship. If you want to know more details, call Dwight for our feedback and he will give you our phone number.

I have worked for the past year with Dwight Grimsley of Westwood Construction and have found him to be extremely competent, diligent, honest, fair and friendly. In fact, I miss having him around the house. Dwight had a significant role in the complete remodel of my master bathroom and closet. He did such a great job that I found numerous other projects for him around my house. Dwight is a master carpenter and has other excellent remodel skills. He’s willing to tackle and seems able to solve any problem presented to him that’s within his skill set. He does exceptionally good, very high quality work. My brother-in-law, who is a well-respected remodel contractor in Atlanta, says he would hire Dwight in a minute. I won’t let him as I want Dwight to be involved in my next project, a complete expansion and remodel of my kitchen and home office.

Where to begin! We have worked together for at least 11 years and it has been a wonderful working relationship. My respect for you and your work has extended to my own home which I proudly show to all my clients.

Your courtesy to our clients and their homes is unrivaled. I know you will take care of everything in including pets, kids and particular worried moms. Your attention to all the details in our jobs together is stellar; whether it is a large high end job or something more modest. You never finish a job without the client’s complete approval and happiness.

I can always depend on you being at our jobs on time and keeping in touch with me with any issues that need clarification. Needless to say this makes every job go very smoothly with less stress for everyone.

I cannot say enough about working with you, it is always a pleasure and I know it will be done with expertise. You give contractors a good name and make me as a designer look good too!

September 27, 2011

We had the opportunity to work with Westwood Carpentry Inc and Dwight Grimsley on the remodel of our home kitchen in the spring of 2011.  I would like to express my appreciation for the excellent service provided by Dwight under a tight deadline.

We were expecting our first child in the beginning of August and construction started only months before.  With a complete renovation of the kitchen planned (including movement of one wall and complete demolition of the kitchen), Dwight had a tight deadline to work with.  Despite working on a house built in 1909, and the numerous unexpected building issues that arise with such an old house (including our desire to add on small projects in other rooms), Dwight delivered an amazing kitchen renovation and was never phased by what the process brought.  We worked closely with Dwight during every step of our kitchen renovation and found Dwight extremely professional.

Toward the end of the remodel, we decided to add the renovation of an adjoining sunroom.  Dwight quickly came up with a plan and a budget (working with our designer, Pam Fischer of Design a la Carte) to renovate the sunroom and still complete the project in a timely manner and before the birth of our child.  Dwight was open to every thought, comment and criticism we gave and worked with us to create a kitchen and sunroom we absolutely love.

Throughout the project we felt that Dwight was a partnered with us and truly desired to give us a kitchen that was exactly what we wanted and needed.   Throughout it all, he remained committed to working within our budget.   In addition, we relied on Dwight to recommend contractors for electrical and painting needs of the job, and we were never disappointed.  His contacts delivered excellent and timely service, saving us immeasurable time and energy.

The remodel of our kitchen and sunroom has exceeded our expectations.  We are very pleased with the results and would recommend Westwood Carpentry and Dwight Grimsley to anyone with building or carpentry needs.  We look forward to working with Dwight in the future!

Sincerely,
Charlene & David J.

“I am writing this letter of reference and recommendation regarding Dwight Grimsley of Westwood Carpentry. About two years ago, Caruso Kitchens designed, coordinated and remodeled our kitchen in Golden, CO. Let me first say how thrilled my husband and I are with the results. My kitchen is everything I wanted in a kitchen and it is as lovely as the day it was finished.

It was, however, not an easy process. I know this comment is common. However, we truly struggled on almost every level to get across to the designer and to the builder exactly what we envisioned for our new kitchen. In the end it all came together. With the help of Jerry Caruso, we did finally get the kitchen we thought we would be getting. I told my husband to knock me out with a wooden spoon if I ever again mentioned the word “remodel” again. Last fall I mentioned remodeling our two upstairs bathrooms. We must have been out of our minds, but we decided it would be worthwhile. Well, I didn’t get knocked out with a wooden spoon, or in any other way, but what I did get are two beautiful new remodeled bathrooms. It took perhaps two years to recover from the kitchen remodel and all of the communication problems I felt we unnecessarily experienced during the process. None of these problems were due to financial restraints or concerns, but rather to basic breakdowns in the ability for all of us to communicate from design to actual building of the new kitchen. Last fall I started the process of interviewing contractors and must have spoken with six or seven, many of whom we have used before in other projects in our home. I, to say the least, am not an easy person with whom to work. In fact, I would say, I am terribly difficult. I took into account the challenge any contractor and/or designer would have, not because of the actual working aspects, but because of my idiosyncrasies and demands. After much consideration and consternation, we chose to sign a contract with Dwight Grimsley of Westwood Carpentry.

I had rather unique design requests and Dwight assured me he would be able to handle any and all challenges in meeting my standards, which can be ridiculously vague. The project of remodeling both bathrooms at the same time began on February 22 and was completed in a timely manner within less than two months. Plumbing was moved, basement walls had to be torn out to make accommodations for the revised upstairs plumbing and replaced, new fixtures made it necessary to figure out creative solutions, items were bought, returned and very little went smoothly. Very little, that is, except for Dwight’s professional and capable performance as general contractor. We communicated constantly and openly. We were able to foresee potential issues and address them before the crisis hit. Dwight was here every single day at our agreed upon time (he would have started work at 7 a.m., but we compromised on 7:45 a.m.) and he stayed every day Monday – Friday until at least 4:15 p.m. or later. Dwight’s ability to not only keep me calm when I would show signs of annoyance or concern that something might not be done to my expectations, he also always worked to AVOID annoyances or concerns. From the tear out, the ordering of supplies, the coordination of sub contractors, electrical upgrades and tile setting, Dwight was always on task and always professional. The site was cleaned regularly and he was extraordinarily sensitive to the fact that this is our home and often I would be home. He always kept us abreast of added costs and unforeseen expenses. Dwight’s manner with my cabinet maker as well as a designer I employed during the building process was impeccable and respectful. Everyone worked with Dwight to provide me with the lovely bathrooms I had envisioned. Dwight listens carefully and acts thoughtfully. This in itself is a rare attribute to find in any contractor/builder/professional. Because we have utilized the services of Caruso Kitchens in the past and find Caruso Kitchens to be of very high quality and value customer relations, I am writing this letter of support and recommendation on behalf of you considering Dwight Grimsley as a contractor. Dwight’s specializes in kitchens and bathrooms. Please call me if I may be of further help. You are also welcome to visit and see the fine work he has done in our bathrooms, which are beautiful while maintaining my unique design quirkiness. Thank you for your consideration and time.”
